Spousal support enforcement is similar to child support enforcement in most regards. An action for civil contempt may be brought for spousal support just the same as with child support under CCP 1209.5.
One notable difference between the two in regard to enforcement is that payment of child support is prioritized above payment of spousal support when it comes to enforcement and allocation of payments (i.e., how a monthly payment is applied). CCP 695.221
